The Friday Suck 5 takes a look at which 5 NBA teams had the worst past week.
5. Miami Heat- While the Heat really doesn’t deserve a spot
on any bottom of the NBA rankings, they are put here simply because of 2
overtime losses this week. The only real
knock against the Heat, and LeBron James, is that they lack the clutch gene. Against the Warriors, it was D-Wade going 2-8
down the stretch and a series of bonehead plays by Udonis Haslem that cost them
the game, and against the Thunder it was missed free throws by LeBron that
doomed the Heat. The Heat will need to
prove they can close out games if they want to win not six, not five, but one championship.
4. Detroit Pistons- The Pistons are currently riding a six
game losing streak, but on the bright side, Greg Monroe has played phenomenally
this season. The Georgetown product is
coming off a career game in which he dropped 32-16 against the Bucks. Another bright spot for the Pistons has been
rookie PG Brandon Knight, who is third on the team in scoring and showing that
he can be the Point Guard of the future for the hapless Pistons.
3. Charlotte Bobcats- The Bobcats have not won since they
upset the Knicks in the Garden. Unfortunately,
that was last week, so they drop in at a firm number 3 in this week’s
rankings. Unlike the Pistons, the
Bobcats don’t really have a bright spot.
Kemba Walker has been playing pretty terribly, and DJ Augustin has not
relinquished the starting point guard role to the first rounder. Michael Jordan is probably still the best
player in the organization.
Embarrassing.
2. Washington Wizards- You may wonder why the Wizards aren’t
first after setting a franchise low points total against a team missing the
reigning MVP, but you have to look at the big picture. The Wizards won a game this week. That’s huge for them. Sure they still have Andray Blatche, Javale
Mcgee, Nick Young, and Jordan Crawford playing significant minutes, but they
won a game. That’s enough for one week.
1. Toronto Raptors- The Raptors are the worst team of the week
for one reason only: they lost to the Wizards.
Andrea Bargnani has been a stud above the border, and the Raps scored a
nice win over the baby T-Wolves, but the fact of the matter is that they still
lost to the Wizards. By 15. That being said, Bargnani and Demar DeRozan
have been a pretty nice one two punch for our friends in Canada, and they
should be off this list in the coming weeks.
