Mike D'Antoni dunzo in New York

The New York Knicks have added Mike D'Antoni to their "dunzo" list. This means there will be no more hanging out and getting food together. No more video games together. No more putt-putt. Dunzo. If you don't watch Parks and Recreation then you have no idea what I am talking about. So to put it more simply, Mike D'Antoni has resigned as the head coach of the New York Knickerbockers.

Adrian "Woj" Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports was the first to break the story.

The Knicks have lost six straight games and eight of their last ten. Just one month ago the Knicks and Jeremy Lin were the talk of the town. The Lincredible story has come to a crashing end, and the resignation of D'Antoni could be the end. At this point only one thing is for certain; Jeremy Lin is a coach killer. Just kidding.

Carmelo Anthony never bought into D'Antoni's system, and since he and Amar'e have been back and playing with one another the Knicks defense has taken a big hit. Their team defense is actually 18th in the league (96.5 points per game), which is very average, but in March the Knicks have allowed over 100 points in five out of six games.

Assistant coach Mike Woodson will take over as the interim head coach. His last head coaching gig was with the Atlanta Hawks. Woodson loves his iso and Carmelo/Amar'e love their iso so it seems likely that we will see a substantial boost in shoot attempts for Melo and Amar'e--I know you are wondering how that is even possible, but you shall see. It is safe to say Love Boat Sport author, Walter "Aw Man" Simmons is not a fan of Woodson and certainly not a fan of his offense.

Some possible destinations for D'Antoni are in Charlotte with the Bobcats or DC with the Wiz Kids. Personally I would enjoy watching D'Antoni and John Wall together in DC, and let's face it, the Wizards aren't playing defense regardless of who is coaching them.

The Knicks are a mess, and will be for the foreseeable future. I feel for you Jared Jeffries.
